One day in elementary school, I came home and drew my mom a diagram. The diagram portrayed a bunch of circles that represented different friend groups at school. All the circles made one big circle and in the middle of the circle I wrote my name. "I don't belong to any of the groups" I told my mom. I didn't understand how I could have so many friends but at the same time not fit in anywhere.
Friends are hard and it is confusing and difficult growing up trying to understand the complexities of friendship. However, it is such a beautiful thing when you find friends that you can be honest with and love. People that include you.
John 15:15 says "I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my father I have made known to you." The creator of the heavens and the earth calls us friend.
Beyond a friend, He makes us a part of His family. He calls us beloved and His. God wants a relationship with each and every one of us. He doesn't want the kind of complex friendships I struggled to understand as a kid, He just wants to love us unconditionally and be present in our lives.
Do you want that relationship with Him?
